Electric - Their are no apartments near the Thunderbird Campus that include electric with the rent so you will need to get the electric turned on before you move in. A question that is asked very often is "how much are the electric bills?".
The answer to this question is very difficult to answer as their are many factors that determine the answer to this question. These factors include the following,

1 - Direction that the apartment face. In the summer an apartment who has a western exposure will have a higher electric bill then an apartment that faces north. Why? The hottest time of the year is in the summer, in the late afternoon when the sun is facing west. An apartment that faces north typically will have the cheapest electric bill in the summer as the apartment will not get any direct sun.

2 - Floor level. An upstairs apartment will usually have a higher bill. The downstairs has the insulation from the upstairs apartment - plus heat rises.

3 - Size of apartment - Obviously a larger apartment will use more electricity to cool or heat then a smaller apartment.

4 - Usage - Someone who can feel comfortable at 80 degrees in the summer will have a lower bill then someone who keeps the air at 75 degrees.

Gas - There are only a few apartments near the Thunderbird Campus that has gas. If they do have gas, the gas will be used for hot water and the stove.

Water - A majority of the apartments in the area charge separately for water. These apartments will charge for the water in one of the following ways.

1 - Fixed bill - The apartment will have a fixed monthly charge that they will charge you every month for water. You will add this amount to your rent when you pay the rent.

2 - Metered Bill - You will receive a bill a few days before your rent is due based on your usage. You will add this amount to your rent when you pay the rent.

3 - Internet, Cable and Phone - All apartments have the option for you to get internet, cable and or phone. Some apartments have the option of choosing from several different companies, while other apartments will only have one option. Please check with the property on what your internet/cable options are. You will need to contact the provider's of the items to get them connected. Only a couple apartments offer free internet. With these apartments you will need to get a modem to access the internet. A few apartments also offer free cable. If you desire a higher internet speed or additional cable channels then provided, you will need to contact the cable company and pay to get them upgraded. If you desire satelite television, always check with the apartment to see if you can get it for your specific apartment.
